Foreign direct investment in China up one percent in Q1

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in China in the January-March period of the current year totaled RMB 226.51 billion ($32.92 billion), up one percent year on year, with a total of 6,383 new companies set up by foreign investment in China, up 7.2 percent year on year, as announced by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC). Meanwhile, in March alone, foreign direct investment (FDI) in China totaled RMB 87.83 billion ($12.77 billion), up 6.7 percent year on year, with a total of 2,523 new companies set up by foreign investment in China, down 1.5 percent year on year.

In particular, in the first quarter this year FDI by the 28 countries in the European Union in China increased by 11.2 percent year on year.
