The customs authorities in the city of Baotou in China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region have stated that in the first half of the current year the city's finished steel exports totaled 493,000 mt, up 11.3 percent, earning revenues of $340 million, up 3.3 percent, both year on year. The average price of the finished steel products exported from the city in the given period was $679.6/mt down 7.2 percent year on year.
In January-March this year, exports of finished steel from Baotou increased on quarter-on-quarter basis. In April, exports of finished steel from the city fell to a low of 54,000 mt. The export volume trended up in May and in June it reached a monthly peak to date for the current year of 121,000 mt, up 36.8 percent year on year and up 14.4 percent month on month.
