Galvanizers in the Philippines have appealed to the country's government to end the seven percent import duty on CRC and HRC, the Filipino press reports.

Filipino Galvanizers Institute president Salvio Perez said that the continued imposition of this tariff on HRC and CRC maintains a distorted tariff structure according to which local manufacturers are slapped with a seven percent duty on raw material imports while competing foreign manufacturers are given free entry to the Filipino market though free trade agreements made with third countries such as South Korea, China and Japan.

CRC, produced from HRC, is used in the production of galvanized steel roofings.
