UK-headquartered Ferroglobe, one of the leading global producers of silicon metal, silicon and manganese specialty alloys, has announced its operational results for the fourth quarter and the full year of 2019.
In 2019, Feroglobe’s manganese alloys shipments totaled 392,456 mt, down 7.5 percent year on year. The decrease was partially offset by a 1.2 percent increase in the fourth quarter compared to the previous one. In the October-December quarter last year Ferroglobe, aiming to reduce accumulated stocks, lowered its prices for Mn alloys by 7.5 percent quarter on quarter, triggering some demand for its products, SteelOrbis understands.
Ferroglobe shipped 295,429 mt of silicon alloys and 238,192 mt of silicon metal in 2019, down 5.2 percent and 32.4 percent year on year, respectively.
