Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for May and for the first five months of 2010.
Accordingly, in the January-May period the company registered a 6.6 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to about 11.95 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw an 11.3 percent rise to 4.1 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 8.3 percent year on year to 3.66 million metric tons. The company also processed 358,600 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials to meet ongoing higher demand, bringing its overall pellet output to 4.021 million metric tons - up 18.3 percent year on year.
In May this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) registered a 2.7 percent increase month on month to 760,200 mt, while its pellet production from purchased raw materials went up by 23.3 percent month on month to 100,100 mt, thus leading to a 4.7 percent rise month on month in the company's overall May pellet output, which amounted to 860,300 mt - up 11.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in May, the company's iron ore output went up by 2.2 percent, while its concentrate production increased by 2.5 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.39 million and 942,500.
