Swiss-headquartered company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for April and for the first four months of 2010.
Accordingly, in the January-April period the company registered a 10.5 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to 9.55 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw a 13.3 percent rise to 3.6 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 10.4 percent year on year to 2.9 million metric tons. The company also processed 258,500 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials to meet ongoing higher demand, bringing its overall pellet output to 3.16 million metric tons - up 20.3 percent year on year.
In April this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) registered a slight decrease of 1.3 percent month on month to 740,500 mt, while its pellet production from purchased raw materials dropped by 17.2 percent month on month to 81,200 mt, thus leading to a 3.1 percent decrease month on month in the company's overall April pellet output, which amounted to 821,700 mt - up 10.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in April, the company's iron ore output went down by 4.9 percent, while its concentrate production decreased slightly by 1.8 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.34 million and 919,500.
