According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in November last year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 0.4 percent compared to October and rose by 0.2 percent compared to the same month of 2015. In October, production diminished 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in November increased by 0.4 percent month on month and remained stable year on year. In October, production had risen by 0.4 percent compared to September, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in November increased by 0.3 percent month on month and was up 1.1 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by 1.7 percent from October and was down by 2.1 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction increased by 0.3 percent month on month and was down 0.6 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by one percent month on month and fell by 2.1 percent year on year.
As compared to November 2015, construction output in November last year increased by 7.6 percent in Sweden and by seven percent in the Netherlands, while a decrease of 15 percent was registered in Slovenia, a decline of 14.4 percent was seen in Hungary and a fall of 13.9 percent was recorded in Romania.
As compared to October, construction output in November last year increased by 9.4 percent in Slovenia, by 6.7 percent in Poland and by 5.7 percent in Slovakia, while construction output decreased by 4.1 percent in Romania, by 1.3 percent in Sweden, by 0.8 percent in Spain and by 0.2 percent in France.
