EU-27 monthly industrial output rises 1.4 percent in November over October

Seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the European Union member states (EU-27) in November 2010 rose 1.4 percent as compared to the previous month, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In October, according to revised data, industrial production in the region had slightly grown by 0.4 percent over September.

On the other hand, compared with November 2009, industrial production in the EU-27 in November this year improved by 7.8 percent. November was the 11th consecutive month in which a year-on-year increase was recorded.

In November this year, production of durable consumer goods in the EU-27 fell 1.2 percent as compared to the previous month but was up 0.8 percent year on year, while production of intermediate goods moved up by 1.5 percent in November compared to October and was up 8.6 percent over the same month of the previous year. In addition, production of energy in the EU-27 rose by 2.1 percent month on month, while the year-on-year decrease was 4.5 percent.

Among the member states for which data are available, in November industrial production rose in 10 and fell in eight all compared to October. The highest month-on-month increases were registered in Sweden with 2.6 percent, France with 2.3 percent and the Czech Republic with 2 percent. Meanwhile, the most significant month-on-month declines were observed in Malta with 3.2 percent, Lithuania with 2 percent and Greece with 1.5 percent.
