EU prepares for a complaint on hot rolled product imports from US

Steel producers in the EU are in preparations to file a complaint of countervailing duty as well as anti-dumping duty for hot rolled steel imports from the US. Industry reports reveal that the complaints will be filed at the EU Commission by the end of the year at the latest. It is alleged that compared to very low levels of imports from the US in previous months, the total imports of hot rolled steel products exceed 100'000 mts per month during the second quarter. This amount is reported to be exceeding the threshold for a complaint. EU producers are also not comfortable about the increasing imports from India and some other countries such as China, Egypt, Venezuela and Argentina. Similar complaints might also follow for these countries as well.
