The latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show that European Union (EU) new car registrations recorded in November this year totaled 1,030,414 units, decreasing by 3.5 percent year on year and down 2.4 percent compared to October this year.
In November, Germany was the only major market to post growth with an increase of 2.6 percent, while passenger car demand decreased 4.2 percent in the UK, 6.4 percent in Spain, 7.7 percent in France and 9.2 percent in Italy, leading to an overall 3.5 percent decline in new registrations.
Meanwhile, in the January-November period this year, new car registrations totaled 12,157,119 units in the EU, with a decrease of 1.4 percent over the same period of 2010. In particular, in the first 11 months of 2011, the UK (-4.5 percent), Italy (-10.6 percent) and Spain (-18.8 percent) all saw their markets contract, while France saw its demand decrease slightly (-0.3 percent) and Germany posted significant growth (+9.1 percent).
