EU-27 construction output falls further in September

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in September this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) fell by 1.7 percent as compared to August and was down 3.6 percent compared to September 2009. In August, the production figure had remained unchanged compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.

In the EU, building construction in September dropped 2.3 percent month on month and was down 4.6 percent compared to September 2009, while civil engineering declined by 0.2 percent over August and was up 2.6 percent year on year.

As compared to August, construction output in September rose in Romania by four percent, in Poland by 2.9 percent and in Sweden by 1.4 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 8.3 percent, 7.6 percent and 4.6 percent respectively were registered in Slovenia, Slovakia and Portugal.
