Estonian industrial concern BLRT Grupp has announced that it has purchased the former metal structures plant in Riga where its subsidiary Elme Metall will open its biggest logistics and service center.

"We have already started using the manufacturing building as a warehouse. By the end of the year the logistics center will start to operate at full capacity. In 2012 we will open the service center," reads BLRT Grupp's statement. "Thus we are planning to maintain our market leader position and to increase the market share of our company in the metal market of the Baltic States from a quarter to at least one third. This is consistent with our development strategy," the statement adds.

The total amount of investment in this project was €20 million.

It is probable that the scrap company Refonda will open its center on the same premises as well.

BLRT Grupp's Elme Metall is engaged since 2001 in sales of ferrous and nonferrous metal billets, production of metal products and processing of sheet and profiled metal. Currently, the company has 11 warehouses and three service centers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Poland, with its metal and metal products being sold in the Baltic States as well as in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
