Employment in Turkish industry down 6.8 percent in Q4 2009

Employment in general industry in Turkey in the last quarter of 2009 regressed 6.8 percent year on year and was down 0.1 percent over the previous quarter, according to information provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

Meanwhile, in the given period employment in Turkey's basic metal industry declined 8.2 percent compared to last quarter of 2008 and was down 0.6 percent quarter on quarter. Employment in manufacture of articles of steel, excluding machinery and parts, on the other hand, decreased 5.1 percent year on year and was slightly down 0.1 percent quarter on quarter.
