The Ukrainian Ministry of Economy has said that the European Commission has canceled its antidumping investigation into imports of silicomanganese (SiMn) from Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian Minister of Economy Mr. Anatoliy Kinakh, during its investigation the EC took into consideration the ministry's comments and facts presented by concerned Ukrainian producers. In particular, the EC agreed that Ukrainian exports of SiMn to the EU negatively affect neither EU SiMn domestic prices nor the well-being of the EU silicomanganese industry.

In addition, the EC agreed that since Ukrainian origin SiMn occupies 20 percent of the European market for this ferroalloy, the imposition of any antidumping measures which might limit exports of SiMn from Ukraine to the EU may create a shortage of SiMn in the EU market, said Mr. Kinakh.
