In the January-November period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, steel sheet/plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 950,000 mt, 9.14 million mt and 300,000 mt, down 6.0 percent, 10.8 percent and 20.7 percent year on year, 4.1 percentage points, 0.7 percentage points and 0.8 percentage points slower than the decline rates recorded for the January-October period this year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. Chinese auto production decreased by 9.0 percent year on year in the January-November period of the year, 1.4 percentage points slower than that recorded in the first ten months, continuing to contribute to the slower declining pace of steel sheet imports in the first 11 months of the year.
China’s import volumes of angles/channels in the January-November period amounted to 260,000 mt, down 21.3 percent, showing an increase of 0.3 percentage points in the decrease rate, compared to those recorded for the January-October period.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in the January-November period this year China imported 10.82 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 11.0 percent year on year, 0.9 percentage points slower than the decrease rate recorded in the first ten months of the year.
