Czech Republic reports trade surplus
Based on the preliminary data released by the Czech Statistical Office, Czech Republic reported a trade surplus of CZK 6 billion ($259.6 million) in March 2005 against a trade deficit of CZK 3.35 billion ($144.8 million) in March 2004. This is the highest figure recorded since March 1993. Exports saw a year-on-year increase of 6% in March and imports experienced a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%. For the 12-month period, exports and imports rose 24.9% and 20.1% respectively. For this period, CZK 8.9 billion trade deficit was recorded.
