Consumer confidence increases in Turkey

Turkey's consumer confidence index rose 0.25% month-on-month to 105.4 in January, according to joint data released by the State Institute of Statistics (DIE) and Turkey's Central Bank. The increase in the consumer confidence index stems from the improvement in consumers' assessments concerning their present and future purchasing power, the general economic situation and job opportunities in the next period. The current purchasing power index rose slightly from 92.7 to 92.8, while the future purchasing power index rose from 97.5 to 99.2. The general economic situation index jumped from 104.7 to 108.6, while the job opportunities index rose from 93.1 to 94.2.
