France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) has announced that the industrial economic situation in France remains negatively oriented in spite of a slight improvement in the industrial business climate indicator. In November this year, confidence levels in the domestic manufacturing sector increased three points compared to October but remained significantly below the long-term average, following a survey carried out among French business leaders.
Looking at the outlook for their own individual production, French business leaders remain pessimistic about their future activity in the French manufacturing industry. The general production outlook, which represents business leaders' opinion on French industry as a whole, increases but remains considerably below the long-term average. Total order books have increased and export order books are nearly steady but they are rated as very low as well.
On the other hand, in the French building industry, the business climate indicator has improved very slightly in November but remains below its long-term average, while the turning point indicator is in the neutral zone.
