Colombian crude steel output rises in July

Colombian crude steel production in July rose 31.5 percent, year-on-year, according to data released this week by the Colombian Committee of Steel Producers, CPA.

CPA said crude steel production in July improved to 113,576 mt, from 86,324 mt in the same month of the year prior.

July’s crude steel output volume represents a 3.13 percent growth when compared to June, when the local steelmakers produced 110,121 mt of crude steel.

CPA said long finished production in July grew 16 percent, year-on-year, but fell 7.7 percent, month-on-month, to 104,541 mt.

As for the cumulative period of January to July, Colombian steelmakers produced 752,401 mt of crude steel, 3.5 percent more when compared to the same period of 2016.

Long finished output in the seven-month period was 779,919 mt, 2.4 percent up, year-on-year.
