Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 8.9 million mt in September this year, decreasing by 11.6 percent compared to August, according to the company's announcement. 11 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in September was coking coal.
According to the the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in September this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 53.93 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 15.01 percent of the total.
PWCS accounts for one third of Austrlia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
