Yesterday, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced that the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) decided not to prolong antidumping measures against imports of Ukrainian rebar which were imposed in June of 2001 for a period of five years. After the cancellation of the duties and the system of reference pricing, the access to the new market will receive Mittal Steel Krivoy Rog, which, in opinion of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine had been participating very actively in the procedures of reviewing and studying of the CITT regarding the necessity of the barriers on imports of Ukrainian rebar. The other Ukrainian rebar producers such as Yenakievsk MZ and Makeyevsk MZ, in the opinion of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine are not yet ready to enter such big and competitive market as Canada.
