CISA: Iron ore prices in China increase sharply during January

Iron ore prices in China increased sharply during the month of January this year, as stated in a new report issued by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

At the end of January, the China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) stood at 294.76 points, up 41.37 points or 16.33 percent compared to the end of December last year. In particular, the domestic production iron ore price index was at 243.47 points, up 4.53 points or 1.9 percent month on month, while the import iron ore price index stood at 302.52 points, increasing by 46.95 points or 18.37 percent month on month.

For the whole of January, the average China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) was at 268.17 points, up 19.44 points or 7.82 percent compared to December last year. In particular, the average domestic production iron ore price index stood at 241.54 points, up 2.66 points or 1.11 percent month on month, while the average import iron ore price index stood at 272.19 points, rising by 21.97 points or 8.78 percent month on month.
