One of the largest Russian pipe producers, Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ), a part of ChTPZ group, intends to commission its new pipe electric-welding workshop for the production of large diameter single-weld pipes on July 17, i.e., on Metallurgist's Day in Russia.
ChTPZ has so far completed about 70 percent of work on the new workshop and is currently installing the equipment which totals 10,000 mt in weight.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the new pipe electric-welding workshop, with an annual capacity of 600,000 mt, will produce large diameter longitudinal single-weld pipes of 508 to 1,420 mm in diameter with multi-layer double-side polymer coating, with wall thicknesses of up to 48 mm, and of 18 m in length, for trunk oil and gas pipelines. The pipes will be produced from plates produced at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works' (MMK) new plate rolling mill 5000, commissioned in July 2009.
The total investments in the workshop construction project amount to Ruble 21 billion (about $699.8 million).
