China's steel industry PPI down 3.4 percent in February 2026

In February this year, China's producer price index (PPI) for its ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector decreased by 3.4 percent year on year, 0.3 percentage points slower compared to the declining pace recorded in January, while edging up by 0.1 percent month on month, according to the data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Meanwhile, in the January-February period this year, China's PPI for its ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector decreased by 3.5 percent year on year.

China's overall PPI decreased by 0.9 percent year on year in February, while it rose by 0.4 percent month on month. Also in February, Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices declined by 0.7 percent year on year and rose by 0.7 percent compared to January this year.
