In April this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 1.37 million mt, 3.75 million mt and 200,000 mt, increasing by 6.0 percent, 1.5 percent, 11.7 percent, respectively, year on year, while exports of angles/channels amounted to 300,000 mt, down 5.3 percent year on year.
In the January-April period of the current year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels and steel plate amounted to 4.34 million mt, 1.12 million mt, and 12.36 million mt, down 36.6 percent, 19.7 percent, and 16.6 percent year on year, respectively, while wire rod exports totaled 650,000 mt, up 2.6 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.
In April, China exported 6.476 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 0.2 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-April period of the current year totaled 21.624 million mt, down 20.1 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
