China’s steel bar exports decrease by 46.6 percent in Q1

In March this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 1.28 million mt, 280,000 mt, 3.29 million mt and 130,000 mt, declining by 37.1 percent, 31.7 percent, 18.0 percent and 27.4 percent, respectively.

In the January-March period of the current year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and wire rod amounted to 2.97 million mt, 810,000 mt, 8.61 million mt and 450,000 mt, down 46.6 percent, 23.7 percent, 22.6 percent and 0.2 percent year on year, respectively, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In March, China exported 5.65 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 25.2 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-March period of the current year totaled 15.15 million mt, down 26.4 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
