China’s steel bar exports down 24.5 percent in H1

In June this year, China’s export volumes of steel bars and angles/channels amounted to 1.5 million mt and 350,000 mt, increasing by 18.2 percent and 23.6 percent, respectively, year on year, while exports of steel plate and wire rod respectively totaled 3.94 million mt and 200,000 mt, down 3.6 percent and 4.8 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-June period of the current year, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels and steel plate amounted to 7.28 million mt, 1.79 million mt, and 20.17 million mt, down 24.5 percent, 10.0 percent, and 11.6 percent year on year, respectively, while wire rod exports totaled 1.07 million mt, up 2.2 percent year on year. 

In June, China exported 6.944 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 0.9 percent year on year, while the country’s finished steel exports in the January-June period of the current year totaled 35.426 million mt, down 13.2 percent year on year, as previously announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
