China’s stainless steel crude steel output up 4.11 percent in Q1

In the January-March period this year, China’s stainless steel crude steel output amounted to 8.2732 million mt, up 326,500 mt, or 4.11 percent year on year, according to Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (CSSC).

In the given period, China’s apparent consumption of stainless steel amounted to 6.9736 million mt, down 0.96 percent year on year.  

In the first three months this year, China imported 460,900 mt of stainless steel, down 51.22 percent year on year, while it exported 967,200 mt of stainless steel, down 8.94 percent year on year.  

According to the CSSC, China’s stainless steel crude steel output increased in the given period, while apparent consumption declined, signaling that the stainless steel market was facing downward pressure.
