In the January-March period this year, China’s iron ore production amounted to 241.812 million mt, decreasing by 1.2 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
In the first three months this year, import iron ore prices moved down first before moving up later. The lowest iron ore price level of $99/mt during the given period was seen on February 24, while the highest level of $111/mt was observed on January 7, March 17, and March 20-23, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
In March alone, China’s iron ore production totaled 79.639 million mt, down 5.1 percent year on year.
