China’s iron ore imports up 6.5 percent in Q1

In March this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 85.77 million mt, up 16.52 percent month on month and increasing by 6.53 percent year on year, while in the January-March period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 241.56 million mt, up 6.5 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on April 13.

In March this year, China imported 1.27 million mt of finished steel, up 36.56 percent month on month and rising by 4.96 percent year on year. In the January-March period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 3.13 million mt, declining by 3.3 percent year on year.
