China’s iron ore imports increase by 6.7 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 88.66 million mt, up 2.8 percent month on month and increasing by 1.1 percent year on year, while in the January-August period this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron oreconcentrate totaled 713.98 million mt, up 6.7 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 8. 

In August this year, China imported 990,000 mt of finished steel, up 1.0 percent month on month and decreasing by 10.8 percent year on year. In the January-August period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 8.77 million mt, rising by 0.8 percent year on year.
