China’s iron ore imports decrease by one percent in 2018

In December last year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 86.648 million mt, up 0.46 percent month on month and increasing by 3.0 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on January 14. In 2018, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 1064.474 million mt, down 1.0 percent year on year.

In December, China imported 1.006 million mt of finished steel, down 4.8 percent month on month and decreasing by 16.2 percent year on year. In the full year, China imported 13.166 million mt of finished steel, down 1.0 percent year on year.
