According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics, in September the country’s crude steel output amounted to 47.95 million mt, down 5.9 percent year on year, the lowest monthly volume so far this year. Average daily crude steel output in September was 1.5983 million mt, down 67,500 mt month on month, and also constituting a record low for the current year. China’s crude steel output in the January-September period this year totaled 474.53 million mt, up 12.7 percent year on year.
In September, national outputs of pig iron and finished steel respectively came to 45.7 million mt and 65.43 million mt, down six percent and up 4.5 percent year on year respectively. In the first nine months of the current year, China’s pig iron and finished steel outputs totaled 449.41 million mt and 599.84 million mt, up 10.1 percent and 19 percent year on year respectively.
