China’s coal imports up 29.6 percent in January-May

In May this year, China’s coal imports totaled 22.19 million mt, up 16.7 percent, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. In the January-May period this year, China’s coal imports amounted to 111.68 million mt, rising by 29.6 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China exported 1.31 million mt coal in May, increasing by 84.5 percent, while it exported 4.65 million mt in the January-May period, up 15.9 percent, both year on year.
