SteelOrbis Shanghai In recent days, China's State Environmental Protection Administration published a list of 82 projects it says are in serious breach of the environmental protection law. With a combined investment value of RMB 112.3 billion, these projects include 25 mills, coking plants, and mines. Some newly-opened or expansion projects of Shougang, Maanshan Steel, Laiwu Steel, and Baotou Steel, among others, are also named in the list. In order to avoid regional obstruction and to force local governments to take efficient measures, SEPA has declared that if the listed projects are not dealt with, no new projects will be approved in the regions which are found to be at fault.
