In November, China’s finished steel exports totaled 2.84 million mt, down 104,600 mt or 3.55 percent year on year, totaling a value of $2.188 billion, down $1.709 billion or 43.86 percent compared with the same month last year. Meanwhile, finished steel exports for the January-November period this year reached 21.2422 million mt, down 34.7728 million mt or 62.08 percent year on year, amounting to a total value of $19.774 billion, down $39.669 billion or 66.73 percent compared to the same month last year.
On the other hand, China’s finished steel imports in November totaled 1.2949 million mt, up 271,300 mt or 26.51 percent year on year, totaling $1.502 billion in value, down $264 million or 14.95 percent compared with the same month last year. Meanwhile, finished steel imports for the January-November period reached 16.1557 million mt, up 1.6965 million mt or 11.73 percent year on year, amounting to a value of $17.888 billion, down $3.854 billion or 17.73 percent compared to the same month last year.
In November, the country’s net exports of finished steel amounted to 1.5446 million mt, with the trading surplus totaling a value of $686 million. The average export price in November was $770.38/mt, down $553.1/mt or 41.79 percent year on year. The average import price was $1,159.86/mt, down $565.42/mt or 32.77 percent year on year. The export price was $389.48/mt or 33.57 percent lower than the import price.
