China announces subsidies for energy-saving household appliances

The State Council of China has decided to allocate RMB 26.5 billion ($4.19 billion) in subsidies to promote the use of energy-saving household appliances and products, including air conditioners, flat-screen televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and water heaters.

At the same time, the Chinese government will allocate RMB 2.2 billion ($348.06 million) in subsidies to promote the use of energy-efficient lamps and LED lighting, as well as RMB 6 billion ($949.25 million) in subsidies for the purchase of motor vehicles with engine capacities lower than 1.6 liters.
