The Chilean government has extended an existing provisional, advalorem antidumping (AD) duty over Chinese imports of wire rod for up to two months, it said this week.
The Chilean government said the extended levies are effective from February 22, 2017 and should last for up to two more months or until it decides to end the provisional duties or apply definite duties. The AD duties cover drawing and mesh quality wire rod with a diameter of 16mm or less, but excludes cold heading quality (CHQ) wire rod.
According to the Chilean government, the duty rates were also revised. Initially, the duty was 40.6 percent. Now, wire rod imports from Benxi Beitai Gaosu Steel Wire Rod Co will pay a 28.3 percent tariff, while imports from Zhangjiakou Xuanlong High Speed Wire Co and Jiangsu Shagang Group Co. Ltd will pay duties of 18.6 and 32 percent, respectively. All other Chinese exporters will continue paying the 40.6 percent AD duty.
The products subject to the provisional AD duties currently fall under the following Chilean HS codes: 7213.2000, 7213.9110, 7213.9120, 7213.9190, 7213.9900, 7227.1000, 7227.2000 and 7227.9000.
