Cherepovets Steel Mill, a subsidiary of Russian steelmaker Severstal, has completed an investment project on the reconstruction of the hydraulic mechanism system for changing the work rolls on the finishing train of its mill 2000. The total investment cost was Ruble 38.2 million ($1.36 million).

The project was initiated in order to increase production at the mill 2000 by reducing downtime during work roll changes on the finishing train.

The project started in Q2 2010 and ended in March 2011. As a result, the company will save about 90 hours per year, which will enable the production of an additional 63,000 mt of rolled products additionally.
