Canadian primary steel output up 24.5 percent in August over July

According to the statistics released by Statistics Canada, the country's primary steel and pig iron output amounted to 733,067 metric tons in August, increasing by 24.53 percent compared to July, but down 46.12 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, Canada's steel pipe and tubing production in August totaled 109,914 mt, decreasing by 45 percent compared to August 2008, but recorded a month-on-month increase of 14.6 percent.
