Canadian iron ore shipments up 11.2 percent in February

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in February 2019 totaled 3,226,072 mt, an 11.2 percent increase from January but a 15.6 percent decrease from February 2018. Of that total, 245,753 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 2,980,319 mt was exported.

Year-to-date, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 6,126,216 mt, down 2.1 percent from the same two-month period of 2018.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of February totaled 6,916,486 mt, up 10.2 percent from January levels and up 43.5 percent from levels in February 2018.
