The Canadian International Trade Tribunal announced on June 16 that it has initiated a preliminary injury inquiry on dumping and subsidizing of rebar from China, South Korea and Turkey.

The complaint was filed by Canadian steelmakers Alta Steel Inc., ArcelorMittal LCNA and Gerdau Longsteel North America.

On August 12, 2014, the Tribunal will determine whether there is a reasonable indication that the alleged dumping and subsidizing have injured the domestic industry. If so, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) will continue its investigations and, by September 11, 2014, will issue preliminary determinations.
