Bulgaria’s Stomana Industry to rehire workers due to favorable market conditions

Bulgarian steelmaker Stomana Industry, a subsidiary of Greek steel producer Sidenor, intends to hire 100 workers, thereby regaining jobs it had to shed due to the crisis, Sofia News Agency has reported.

"Under the agreement with the unions, we as employer committed to rehiring the laid-off workers in the event of favorable market conditions. We are now gradually starting to honor our commitment," Stomana Industry's human resources manager Tomcho Tomov said, adding that the new dynamics in the international markets are helping the plant to regain jobs.

Back in November 2008, Stomana Industry laid off about 300 workers.

Stomana Industry is now the largest Bulgarian steelmaker in operation, after the Kremikovtzi steel plant in Sofia, the largest one previously, ran into bankruptcy.
