According to the preliminary data released on November 7 by the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI), in September this year Bulgaria's seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 1.8 percent compared to the previous month and was down by 1.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in September the seasonally adjusted industrial production index in the manufacture of basic metals increased by 10 percent month on month and was down by 1.6 percent compared to the same month last year. In the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, a month-on-month decrease of six percent and a year-on-year decrease of 20.9 percent were recorded.
On the other hand, in September this year construction output was 1.1 percent below the level of the previous month. The index of production for building construction, calculated from the seasonally adjusted data, showed a decrease of 1.3 percent, while the production index for civil engineering fell by 0.8 percent, month on month.
On year-on-year basis, in September the overall construction output index, calculated from data adjusted in line with the number of working days, decreased by 2.9 percent, with an increase of 4.2 percent in civil engineering output, while the production index for building construction decreased by eight percent.
