Bulgaria to resolve problem of Kremikovtzi’s unused Burgas terminal

According to local media reports, Bulgaria's transport minister has promised to help resolve problems at the new Terminal 2A at the port of Burgas, constructed with borrowed money solely to serve the deliveries of raw materials to Bulgaria's largest steel plant Kremikovtzi, which subsequently went bankrupt.

Currently, without incoming revenue, the port is having difficulty meeting its payments for the money borrowed.

The new terminal, which was opened in April 2006, had been operating on a series of temporary permits, although it handled very little traffic for the steelmaker.

As part of a revamp, it will be permitted to handle cargo for other companies.
