According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in 2011 decreased to 100,327, down 29 percent from 141,371 registered during the same period of the previous year.
In 2011, the value of the buildings in question decreased by 21.7 percent year on year, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits decreased to 645,655, down 29.6 percent from 916,504 units in the previous year.
Meanwhile, in 2011, the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 23.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
