On April 5, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK) released the quarterly domestic construction sector indicators for the fourth quarter of 2011.
Accordingly, in the period in question, the quarterly production index in Turkey's domestic construction sector increased by 7.1 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the production index in domestic building construction rose from 105.4 to 118.2, increasing by 12.1 percent, while the production index in civil engineering fell from 173.7 to 158.7, decreasing by 8.6 percent, all compared to the fourth quarter of 2010.
Moreover, the quarterly turnover index in the domestic construction sector, with the base year 2005 = 100 and calculated according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, Rev. 2 (NACE Rev.2), increased by 10.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
