Turkish construction output index up slightly in Q2

On September 18, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK) released the domestic construction sector indicators for the second quarter of 2012.

Accordingly, in the quarter in question, the production index in Turkey's domestic construction sector increased by 0.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the production index in domestic building construction rose from 133.9 to 136.9, increasing by 2.2 percent, while the production index in civil engineering fell from 166.3 to 156.5, decreasing by 5.9 percent, all compared to the second quarter of 2011.

Moreover, the turnover index in the domestic construction sector in the second quarter of 2012, with the base year 2005 = 100 and calculated according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, Rev. 2 (NACE Rev.2), decreased by 1.2 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
