According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first three quarters of 2012 increased to 71,139, up 5.6 percent from 67,391 registered during the same period of the previous year. However, in the same period of 2010 the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits was 75,581.
In the first nine months this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 36.8 percent year on year to $73.2 billion, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 518,026, up 20 percent from the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months, the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey decreased by 9.4 percent to 63,076 buildings compared to the same period last year.
