British Steel to temporarily halt production at Skinningrove plant

UK-based steelmaker British Steel has announced that it has decided to temporarily halt production and furlough almost 300 workers at its Special Profiles mill in Skinningrove, located in Teesside, northern England, for three weeks as of June 13, due to the challenging market conditions caused by the coronavirus. A small number of employees will remain on site.

British Steel also stated that this is a temporary measure, the same as the previous time.

Earlier this year, the company had halted production at its Special Profiles mill in Skinningrove and had furloughed a small number of employees at the Lisburn service center, for three weeks, who subsequently returned to work in April, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
